Entertainment. 24 hours, 7 days a week. Genting Highlands

Genting Highlands has long been a playground for the rich and wealthy in Kuala Lumpur. The “Vegas” up the hill is a popular destination for families over the years. Opened in 1995, this is one of the pioneer got to spots in the 90’s. Genting Highlands is a perfect place for the party goers, thrill seekers, families and couples. The entertainment hub situated 6000 ft above sea level is only a short bus ride from Kuala Lumpur and many tend to overlook this destination because it is too pricey. However, with some simple tricks and proper planning, this trip can be Instaworthy if you have a couple of lazy days here in the city to spend. From casinos, to theme parks, food streets and world class shopping and attractions, it will bound to keep you entertained all day long. So here are a few tips on how to keep the fun level high and the budgets down low. First, let get there.

Suggestions:

Genting Highlands is located up in the longest mountain range of Malaysia. At 6000ft up, it will be rather chilly depending on the season. So bring a jacket along just in case. If you would really want to save up on a few bucks more, I would suggest that you pack your lunch, some snacks and a bottle of water just in case. The food might be pricier compared to the prices in Kuala Lumpur. If you would want to have a look at the casino, you should dress for it. They wont allow flip flops and inappropriate attire to enter. Lastly, please do bring your passport for identification at the casino entrance.

Once there, head up the escalator and head towards the ticketing counter. I would recommend to go directly to the GoGenting bus counter instead of the others because they are the official bus company under the Genting Group. Their booth number is KT27.

Once you get your ticket and board the bus, you are on your way to Genting Highlands. Your drop off point will be on the entrance of the Skyway Terminal where you can board the cable car ride to the top.  Genting Skyway is the cable car ride which I hope you dont skip because it is one of the main attractions of the resort. This is the only way to get up to the resort if you are going via bus. The ticket is well worth its price for the experience.

Off the beaten path @ Genting Highlands

Chin Swee Temple

The temple is situated below Geniting Highlands. If you are taking the cable car up, there is a stop for you to get to the temple. The temple is famous for its decor and the ambiance of serenity. Building the Buddhist temple is no easy feat. The temple is located on a sloppy hillside, overlooking the mountainous horizon. Visitors can also admire the intricacies of some of the handiwork and embark on a journey of cultural exploration, travelling from hell to heaven in the after life in accordance to ancient Chinese traditions and beliefs.
